Exploring the Pollinator Garden began as a live painting in a beautiful backyard in Burlington for a Pollinator Garden event in June 2025. The painting’s layers of acrylic washes are exposed in places and capture the initial expressive lines of the movement in the garden. In the studio, the artist, Tina Newlove used oil paint to define and highlight abstract pollinators. With the organic and geometric shapes, she found a figure nestled in the background stepping out from the neighbourhood houses to explore the garden and distinctive plants; like the tulip tree leaves and the Blue Flag Iris near the pond feature in the lower right corner of the painting. The palette of soft blues, greens, pale yellow and purple reflect the early summer colours.
